Altered Canvas

I have wanted to make an altered canvas for several months, and finally got motivated this week to make one as a gift for my daughter-in-law's birthday. Megan turned 21 on November 30!

My inspiration for this project came from this blog. Amanda Muirhead is a design team member for Pink Paislee, one of my favorite scrapbook companies.I began by spraying the canvas with Black Cherry Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels.I used Pink Paislee rub-ons, glittered alphabet letters, border sticker, artisan tape, and pleated ribbon. My background papers are from Fancy Pants Roadshow collection and Little Yellow Bicycle Love Letters collection. The black lace and rhinestones and pearls are from Prima. Flowers are from Prima and Kaisercraft. Just click on the photos to enlarge them.I'm pretty pleased with my first altered canvas project, and I hope Megan enjoys it! Happy Birthday, Megan!

Paper Sack Pockets

Our church just finished off our Missions Conference with our annual Missions Banquet. I was in charge of the kitchen clean up crew of 11 ladies and teen girls. I wanted to make something to say, "Thank You!" to each one of the ladies on my crew. I made these cute little paper sack pockets filled with a few candy treats. I saw these at LilyBean's Paperie back in August, and I loved them so much, I just had to make some for my crew. I purchased the paper sacks from Michelle Wooderson's Etsy shop. The little wax bags are from Papertrey Ink. I used the Crate Paper Restoration Collection on these little cuties!

Busy Summer!!

It's been a busy summer!! I haven't had much (any) time for creating, but we are finally slowing down and Anna is starting school today! I wanted to send my parents pictures of Jonathan and Megan's wedding, so I bought a photo album at the Goodwill and decided to alter the cover and send the pictures in this altered album. I used Pink Paislee papers, Prima lace, and a Tattered Angels chipboard frame. Here's the finished album:

Pink Paislee Photo Album

I made this altered photo album (picked up at the thrift store) for my son and daughter-in-law. I wanted them to have something pretty to put their wedding pictures in. For this this project, I used Bayberry Cottage papers, flip notes, pleated ribbon, and a black chipboard embellishment. The green chipboard frame from is from Tattered Angels. I stamped it with a Tim Holtz script stamp, then sprayed it with Olive Vine and Pearl Glimmer Mist. The pearl brad is from Kaisercraft. The key to success on these albums is a good adhesive. I used Modge Podge for the large areas of paper, but I used super sticky double-sided tape on all the edges of the papers to really make them hold.
Thanks for looking! Have a great week!

Bayberry Cottage Altered Photo Album

Pink Paislee is my absolute favorite scrapbooking company! I love their beautiful, rich papers and lovely, unique embellishments! I decided to use the PP Bayberry Cottage line to altar a little photo album I picked up at the Goodwill. I ripped the old cover off the album and cut the PP paper a little bigger than the measurements of my album (approx. 12"x7.5"). I used Modge Podge to adhere the paper to the album, then put double-sided adhesive tape on the paper edges and turned them to the inside of the album. I used coordinating PP paper to cover the insides of the album. I used all Bayberry Cottage embellishments to decorate the cover of the album with the exception of the white pearl trim. That is from JoAnn Fabrics. This was a quick and easy project that I gave as a gift to my daughter-in-law's mother.

Mother's Day Cards

I made these two cards using Pink Paislee's Queen Bee collection. I love this line of paper and embellishments! On the first card, I used a Prima flower sprayed with Olive Vine and Wheatfields Glimmer Mist. It matches the paper perfectly! The rhinestone swirls are from Zva Creative, and the rub on is from Melissa Frances. I hand cut some of the flowers and leaves from the QB paper and tucked them up under the Prima flower. I'm extremely pleased with the results. Probably one of my favorite cards!
For the next card, I tried a new technique that I've seen on many card blogs lately. To make my ribbon and bow, I took some soft yellow Martha Stewart seam binding, and got it thoroughly wet. I absorbed some of the water with paper towels, then sprayed the seam binding with Wheatfields Glimmer Mist. I scrunched the wet misted seam binding in my hand while blowing it partially dry. I ended up letting it air dry the rest of the way. It matches the Queen Bee papers perfectly! The sentiment is another Melissa Frances rub-on. (The colors in this photo are not true to the actual colors of the Queen Bee papers.)
Thanks for stopping by! Happy Mother's Day!

Anna's Card

My little Anna, who turns 9 next month, made this pretty wedding card for her brother Jonathan who is getting married May 29. Isn't this beautiful?

Signs of Spring!

Spring means lots of weddings, right? Well, we have a special wedding coming up soon, so here is the card I made for this wedding. The black damask paper is flocked. It's very elegant and formal. It's hard to see, but I put a pretty little pearl and "diamond" stick pin in the bow. Click on the photo to get a close up.
Next up is a bright card to celebrate Spring! I was inspired by a card on Danielle Flanders' blog: danielleflanders.blogspot.com. I don't often use these bright colors, but they are fun, aren't they? This card is for someone sweet and special at church. I used Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety papers for this card. Thanks for looking! Have a great week!

Pink Roses

Don't roses remind you of spring? We are having beautiful weather here in Wisconsin, and Thursday (my birthday!!) is supposed to reach 75 degrees! I will consider that to be my birthday present! I am so enjoying this weather!
This card began when I got a new stamp in the mail, and I wanted to play with it. One thing led to another, and I put this little rose card together. I used black Staz-On ink and my new stamp from kaisercraft on pink Basic Grey paper. The other background paper is by K & Company. The pretty pink roses are also from Basic Grey. I added some pink stickles to the roses for some sparkle. I'm pretty happy with the results!
Thanks for looking, and have a great day!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

My mom's birthday is coming up in just a few days, so I made this card for her. I used My Mind's Eye Bella Bella papers and a MME die cut, a Tim Holtz stamp, and Prima flowers. I sprayed the white and pink die cut with Tattered Angels Wheatfield Glimmer Mist to give it an aged look to match the MME papers. Love glimmer mist!!

Precious Little Ones

We have several friends who have either just had a baby, are soon to have a baby, or are brand new grandparents, so I thought I would create a few baby cards to welcome these little ones. I had so much fun creating this sweet baby girl card this morning. I just wish I had more time to create like this!
Just click on the photo to get a close up of the details. Thanks for looking, and have a wonderful day!

So Easy Black & White Frames!

I love how fast and easy these altered picture frames are to make! These are the $1.00 frames from Michaels. I painted the frames white, then placed them face down on the back of my Creative Memories paper and traced the outline of the frame and the opening. I used Mod Podge to adhere the paper to the frame. When it was completely dry, I inked all the edges with black chalk ink.
For the flower on the first frame, I cut a strip of CM paper about 1" wide x 12" long. Then I trimmed one long edge with scalloped scissors, inked the edges, folded it fanfold style, then formed it in a circle. I used a glue gun to hold it together. The black crystal swirls are from Zva Creative. Isn't my cousin's sweet little girl Emma beautiful?! I love the elegance of this second frame. Absolutely beautiful paper! For this frame I just added some sheer black ribbon and a silver button to finish it off. Thanks for looking!

Beautiful Color Combination!

I love this altered star I made recently using the Creative Memories Black and White Designer Print paper. I love how it turned out!! This is just a beautiful new line of paper. I made this as a gift for my cousin, but I'm thinking of making one for myself soon! The metal star is from Michaels, but it may only be a Christmas item.
