Star of Wonder

Well, it's not exactly the star of wonder, but it's a fun altered metal star I made recently using Basic Grey's Figgy Pudding papers. I bought the plain metal star at Michaels and used tissue paper to make a pattern for the sections of the star. After cutting out all of the sections from patterned paper, I used ModPodge to adhere them to the star, added red trim, a bow, and a big K & Company brad. Now it's a pretty Christmas decoration for my front door!

Contest Card

I recently entered this card in the World Card Making Day Contest. Since I didn't win, I thought I would go ahead and post this card here. I used all K & Company papers. I cut four squares, stitched them to cream cardstock, pinked and distressed the edges with ink, and then applied the squares to the card. I covered a chipboard heart with paper, inked the edges, and stamped one side of the heart. I punched a hole in the corner of the heart to hang it from a piece of hemp. The "thinking of you" stamp is from the $1.00 bin at Michaels.

A Card and an Altered Composition Book

I made this little card with K& Company paper and some other scraps. The chipboard frame is painted Antique Ivory, then sprayed with Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels), then sprinkled with a little glitter. The chipboard button is from Jenni Bowlin.
I altered this composition book to give as a gift to a sweet college student at our church. I used Basic Grey paper and "Cherish" sticker, flourish stamps and some rhinestones.
Have a great day!

Thinking of you....

I've been making lots of cards lately and finishing up my huge painting project. This first card was made using K & Company Margo paper, Tattered Angels Butterfly Framed Font, and a Jenni Bowlin vintage chipboard button. I sprayed the butterfly with Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist. This card has a vintage feel to it, and it's one of my favorites!
This card is made with K & Company Wild Saffron Paper, Martha Stewart twill tape, and a Martha Stewart border punch. I also added some bling with the little gold rhinestones. This last card is made with K & Company's Peabody Scrap Pad, a Tattered Angel's Framed Font, a Prima flower and some sweet little pearls. I picked up the lace from a thrift store. The frame is sprayed with Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels. Last, but not least, I've just finished painting the wall sections between these china cabinet shelves. This is a built-in china cabinet, so the shelves are not removable, which made this job very challenging, especially when you wear bifocals!!

Lots of Pics!

Two layouts today and a living room update. I've been creating layouts and projects for my cousin, Sharon Hyatt, who is a Creative Memories Consultant. The first layout was in a previous post, but I added a verse to the bottom corner, so this is an updated pic. I used all Creative Memories papers on this layout except for the cardstock, which is out of my stash. Rosebud flowers are from Prima. Butterfly punch is from Martha Stewart. Felt flower border is from Michaels. The scripture verse is a CM vellum quote.
Where Your Treasure Is
Fun in the Sun!
I used the Delight Additions Surfer Girl paper and stickers, Fiskars border punch, ribbon and rhinestones from Michaels, and Ranger stickles to add some glitter on the swirl.
Living Room Pics!
Just wanted to give you a living room update. I'm about 95% finished painting! Here are some pictures of my tranformed room:

Hard Labor!!

After four days of hard labor, here are the results:
I have half of my living room finished! I'm planning to paint the other half this week. I'm really pleased with the colors and the end result! This room was totally white for 11 years! I pretty much took the summer off from paper crafting to focus on projects around the house, but I'm planning to go back to scrapbooking and cardmaking very soon!!

Burgandy Beauty!!

A friend of mine came over this past week, and we decided to paint one wall in my living room Deep Garnet. I like it! I'm going to paint the rest of the room tan. I think the end result will be very rich and elegant! Take a look:

Sweet Treats!

My husband and I are picking up our little Anna (8 years old!) this morning from her first week ever of junior camp. She was so excited to go on Monday! I know she had a wonderful time! She had a sweet counselor named Abby, whose seven little "chicks" followed her around all week. I thought it would be nice to make Abby a sweet treat to show her how much we appreciate her taking such good care of Anna all week.
I got this idea from the Paper Crafts Magazine "Home and Heart". I simply put the yellow check paper through my printer to get "Sweet Treats for You". I trimmed it out with scalloped edge scissors, then matted it with black cardstock and adhered it to my paper bag. I filled the bag with a dozen chocolate chip cookies, folded the top down and punched two holes in it, then tied some ribbon through the holes. Kinda cute, eh? We're off to camp soon. Have a great weekend!

The Source of Joy

Many things bring temporary happiness...money, hobbies, loved ones, music, even the sunshine. But all of these things can be taken away in a heartbeat. Deep and lasting joy can only be found through a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Psalm 16:11 says, "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore."
I made these scripture tags this week to remind my Adult Bible Study students that true joy is only found in His presence....
I used K & Company papers; rosebud flowers are Prima; sunflowers are Martha Stewart.

Adorable!

My cousin took this picture of her three beautiful daughters! Aren't they adorable? Who could resist scrapbooking pictures of these sweet girls? I've been admiring the work of "Robinzberdz" at Scrapbook.com and decided to try a layout similar to her style. This layout is my take on Robin's creative style.
I used the Creative Memories Earthy Serenity Paper Pack for most of this layout. I used solid cardstock out of my stash as my base. On most of the CM papers, I distressed the edges with the blade of my scissors. You need a good, sharp blade for this. Then I inked the edges with charcoal chalk ink. On the mat behind the photo, I used decorative edged scissors and then inked the edges. For the purple paper at the top of the photo, I used Martha Stewart's Doily Lace Edge border punch and inked the edges. The rosebud flowers are from Prima, but underneath them are paper flowers made with the Creative Memories Friendship Micro Maker. I cut a 10" circle from black cardstock and used my decorative edge scissors to give it a bit of elegance. The black flowers are a felt border from KI Memories.

"Smile" Photo Frame

I picked up this unfinished wood photo frame at Michaels for $1.00. Thought I'd try my hand at decorating it with the Creative Memories Delight paper from the Additions Kit.
First, I gave the frame a coat of white paint, front and back. Next, I cut my paper as close as possible to the frame measurements (approx 8x8). I laid the frame upside down on the wrong side of my paper and traced the photo opening on the back of my paper. I cut out the center with my trimmer and an exacto knife. Next, I applied ModPodge to the wood frame, then placed the paper on top of the frame. I used a ruler to smooth out any bubbles and excess glue. Once dry, I carefully sanded the edges of the frame to remove any excess paper. To give the frame a shabby- chic look, I added some white paint around the edges of the frame on top of the paper. After the paint dried, I sanded the edges some more to remove any paint that looked excessive.
To embellish my frame, I took a chipboard flower (Maya Road) and covered it with paper from the Creative Memories Delight Kit, painted the edges white, and added a CM sticker. I decided that this frame needed some bling, so I added some rhinestones (Kaiser Krafts). I'm going to work on some cards and a 12x12 layout soon!

Giant Clothes Pin Photo Holder

I altered this giant clothes pin with the Creative Memories Power Palette Delight Additions Kit. I found the clothes pin at a rummage sale and covered the front and back of it with the Delight paper using ModPodge as my adhesive. I finished it off with a top coat of ModPodge for durability. The flowers and sticker (on the photo) are also from the Creative Memories Delight line. I placed the sticker on white card stock, trimmed it out, and mounted it with foam mounting squares. I LOVE how this turned out!!

Family Mini-Album

I love making mini-albums! For me, they are faster and more fun than 12x12 albums. I have poured myself into this album for my brother and sister-in-law. I put great love and care into each page! I used mostly Basic Grey papers throughout the album in order to create continuity. Just click on each photo to get a close up of the details.
